Say Cheese
Right before all of the holidays, we made cardboard cameras at one of the The Wilds pop-up classes. It’s always fun when the art project gets incorporated into pretend play after class. I get stories every week how the little artists are still having the best time with these. They each come out unique and special. Enjoy!

Directions
First: Draw and cut out a small rectangle shape from one of the cardboard sheets. I rounded out the corners just for looks. The cardboard sheets are a little easier to cut than boxes you get in the mail. But those work great too!
Then: Cut out all the other little add-ons. I cut down a toilet paper role about half-way. And then cut down two straws for pretend buttons. And also cut out a little three sided piece of cardboard so the kids could pretend to look through it.
Next: Assemble and glue the pieces of camera together. I just used normal glue, no hot glue gun this time. But that could work too. It all set and dried pretty quickly.
Ready to paint! We used Blick Fluorescent Hot Pink, Fluorescent Green, Fluorescent Blue and Orange. I always mix with white to get the shade I want, and I often let the kids do the mixing on their own.
Ready to decorate! We added buttons as pretend buttons and a few faux leather stars for a little extra fancy. The kids really loved this part.
Last: Add the cotton roping with some tape and you’re ready to go!
