Rainbow Collages

Next week is March already! We are dreaming up so many fun Spring projects. But before we get there, we wanted to do something fun for St.Patty’s Day (or any day!). So we are going to make rainbow collage dreamcatchers at one of the The Wilds pop-up classes. This will be one of our first projects that doesn’t incorporate paint, so our littles can really focus on their composition. It will be so much fun!

Buttons
Felt Sheets

Paint Sticks
Packing Tape

Directions

  • First: Draw a rainbow outline on a cardboard sheet. The first one we did, we only did the top arch, which I think would have come out just as cute (and less cutting through cardboard!). But in the final mock-up I did the full rainbow arch. You’ll see in the supply picture below what I mean. The cardboard sheets are a little easier to cut than boxes you get in the mail. But those work great too!

  • Then: Apply rows of clear packing tape to the back of the rainbow until the entire rainbow is covered. This actually gets pretty sticky!

  • Next: Color the cardboard with the tempera paint sticks!

  • Ready to decorate! I used a lot of extra paper and decorative pieces I had from other leftover projects. Decorative paper, colored cardstock, craft buttons, pom-poms, felt sheets. I try and keep everything that is left over and it usually turns into some great collage material.

  • Last: Ready for the window to let some sun shin through it!
