Supplies

8x10”Cardboard Sheet
Toilet Paper Roll
Tempera Paint
Green Pipe Cleaners
Pony Beads
Cardstock
3 sizes of Circle Punches (I used 2”, 1.5” and 1”)
Standard Circle Punch
Mini Glue Gun
Scissors
Pencil

Directions

  • First: Start by making your vases by collecting empty toilet paper rolls and grabbing a cardboard sheet. I used a small bowl to trace out a circle. You can cut the circle out and attach it to the toilet paper roll w/the hot glue. I prepped these since the tool is hot, but use caution if your artists are participating in this step.

  • Next: Paint your vases! I always love the neon tempera paint from Blick, mixed with a little white. They look great and also blend well together.

  • Then: Make the paper petals. If you’re lucky enough to have a Cricut maker, this is a great opportunity to save your thumbs and get some flowers cut. Which I had a dear friend gift me hers once she saw the project I was about to take on for 30+ kids! (Forever thankful!). My original plan which still works here is to punch out a variety of circles and cut out the petals in a kind of abstract way, then punching a center hole with a standard hole puncher. I think both are super pretty and come out looking lovely. I used a variety of cardstock colors that I had on hand.

  • To build your flowers, cut the pipe cleaners in half and stack on your flower petals. I used beads throughout just for some extra fun.

  • What a pretty vase and flowers you now have to brighten up anyones day!
